Sticky, sweet, and smoky—this Honey BBQ Chicken Rice is a quick one-pan dinner made with juicy chicken, homemade sauce, and fluffy rice.
Ingredients
500g chicken thighs or breasts, diced
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and black pepper
½ cup BBQ sauce
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
1 cup jasmine or basmati rice
2 cups water or chicken broth
1 tbsp butter
Salt to taste
Optional: green onions, sesame seeds, parsley
Instructions
1. Rinse rice. Cook with broth, butter, and salt. Let rest 5 minutes and fluff.
2. Season chicken with garlic, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3. Sear chicken in olive oil for 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
4. Whisk BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, and hot sauce in a bowl.
5. Pour sauce over cooked chicken. Simmer 2–3 minutes until sticky.
6. Scoop rice into bowls, top with chicken, and garnish.
Notes
Use chicken thighs for juicier texture.
Skip hot sauce for a milder, kid-friendly version.
Add corn or avocado for extra flavor.
Store in fridge up to 4 days; reheats well with a splash of water.
